Useful Stuff

1. How often should I have my chimney swept?

That all depends on what type of fuel you are using and, of course how much, and how often, as this all makes a difference. Some of our customers have their appliances on all year round.

RECOMMENDED CLEANING FREQUENCY

  • Smokeless Coal - Once a Year
  • Wood - Once a Year
  • Coal - Twice a Year
  • Oil - Once a Year
  • Gas - Once a Year

2. How long does it take?

Roughly 45 minutes.

3. Do I need to move furniture - cover any thing up?

No, we'll do all that. All we ask is that any special ornaments, fireside accessories are moved out of the way because we need a clear working space to sweep the chimney.

4. When's the best time to have my chimney swept?

Ideally when the chimney is not being used. The summer months are typically favoured by many because if there are any remedial repairs needed, they are easier to undertake. From September up until Christmas is always a very, very busy period for chimney sweeps, so book it early to avoid disappointment.

5. Why should I have my gas fire swept, it leaves no mess?

This is true but the gas flue still needs to be ultra clean to ensure the appliance /fire you are using is running to the best of its ability and is of no danger to you. A single cobweb can be an obstruction as can a build-up of dust particles.
